KINGMANThis is a fictional story based on true events that occurred in May of 1953.In May of 1953, Dr. Albert Strand, an atomic physicist at Los Alamos Laboratories, was conducting nuclear tests in the Nevada desert as part of Operation Upshot-Knothole. He and his colleagues were working in classified settings to increase the yield of fissionable materials in Project Harry and Grable when Albert received a late-night phone call from his supervisor at the Atomic Energy Commission. His supervisor, Dr. Edmund Dolan, requested during a late night phone call that he engage in a special assignment that would take him into the Arizona desert. Albert soon finds out that he and fifteen other scientists are to investigate a crashed Air Force prototype vehicle that came down after suffering decompression and killing the two occupants onboard.However, Albert and his physicist colleagues would discover that reality frequently surpasses fiction, and the information they received might not be completely accurate. Spanning those seven days in May of 1953, more reported strange objects began to fall from the heavens above Arizona, as it became increasingly clear that the Air Force knows more than it is willing to admit publicly.Set in the iconic early 1950s, ‘Kingman’ explores the post-war culture of secrecy and the birth of the Cold War era that would determine the entire course of the 20th century. Set against the rural backdrop of the Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico deserts, this is the story of the men who shaped our most recent past, men who were determined to beat the Russians to the most powerful weapons man has ever known.However, the question is asked of Dr. Albert Strand throughout, ‘What is the real cost of secrecy and lies’, a question he may not be ready to answer.
